I’m glad to finally be able to announce plans for the 2015 season, and what I think is a really positive move.
My background is in endurance karting, and so going to the Fiesta Championship last year with the “elbows out” style racing, took some getting used to.
I’ve been looking to get into endurance car racing for a while now, for a number of reasons, and late last year a great opportunity came up which I had to take with both hands.
For 2015 I will be racing in select rounds of the FIA 24h Series, at the Paul Ricard 24h (July), Barcelona 24h (September), and Dubai 24h (in Jan 2016). This is with Preptech UK, in their Class A2 Gen3 Renault Clio Cup car.
This is a much bigger stage, with live TV coverage for most events and substantial press for the now FIA-backed championship. With huge grids, comprising of GT3 cars in the top class, all the way down to 2000cc saloons in the lower class, it’s a big challenge ahead.
I want to concentrate on gaining track time, learning the ropes of endurance racing; longer stints, driver changes, in-car radio, fatigue, night driving, and so forth. The priority is to learn and get the car to the finish at each event, any other results are a bonus.
Follow me on Twitter for the latest – we will be out testing prior to each event so I will update when there is further news!
